Zolow is for sale

After some months of inactivity, we have received about 300 new city suggestions, and the initial team who started Zolow is now working for different projects.

For this reason, and since we think this is a great idea that, with a team behind it who dedicates the sufficient time to get it well known everywhere could be a great success, we have decided to sell zolow.com.

Zolow.com has actually more than 4.600 zolows and more than 10.000 comments.

It can be used to post announcements for different cities / events (adding a new city is really easy since zolow was developed for being scalable), and for personal notes saving and sharing system (for an example of zolow's personal page, you can see http://zolow.com/user/hombrelobo.

The transaction includes the domain name transfer (zolow.com), the source code and rights to use it with any limitation (time or users), and the necessary files to get it working (MySQL tables, htaccess files for the nice URL's). Finally, we'll also include a Photoshop document (.psd) of what should have been Zolow 2.0. The source code has been developed by us, and includes a small LGPL script to manage window movements which will be also included. Being LGPL does not obligates the new admins to make zolow open source (just the modifications to that library -if any- should be open source).

The server necessary to run Zolow can fit in the majority of shared hostings. It just needs a PHP capable server, with MySQL and (if the new admin wants to preserv the nice URL's) the possibility to use htaccess files to rewrite URL's.

Send your announcements or news via a text message from your cell phone like "zolow chicago your_announcement" to 41411 and they will inmediatly appear in zolow.com/city/chicago

Now, when you are walking in the street and you see something happening (a fire, a celebrity passing by, anything), text from your cell phone "zolow houston brad is here, i saw him" to 41411 and it will appear at zolow.com/city/houston for everybody to see.

(for the time being this feature only works from US cell phones, thanks to Textmarks)

Now with comments

We are releasing new features in Zolow.com. The zolows now have comments. You can create a new zolow, and other people can comment on your zolow. Go to any of them and reply and comment. Try it !

Zolow.com is like the bulletin board in your school, in your supermarket, in your computer !!.

You go straight to your city: http://www.zolow.com/city/chicago and post. That's it. And then, the community decides what is spam, by voting it down, until spam messages disappear. Or you can post an announcement about a concert, and if people vote for it and stick it in their pages, it will remain on top.

All this (except the "stick it to my page"), without even registering.

And if you register, then you get a page with all the zolows you write and all the zolows you like and stick. And you can use that page to send it to your friends and to subscribe to your rss. For instance, you can see my own page here: http://www.zolow.com/user/hombrelobo

Soon we will be adding other features, but since this world moves so fast, we wanted to release this beta asap, and see how much you like it.
